Dining Chairs Redo

This past couple months my kitchen has been getting a makeover. Well actually it start over a year ago when I painted some of my kitchen cabinets a distressed black, then in July I finally got my Husband to help my tear up the dirty white tile floor. WOW!!! that was a huge job. You see most contractors will nail/screw the tile backer board to the sub-floor and then mortar the tile to the backer board. But not in our house. The backer board was almost mortared, which made it incredible hard to get off. After a 1 1/2 of hard work, dust and an inoperable kitchen, we were ready to put the new floor in. I love it!!!!

So fast forward to this past week, I started noticing lots of dirt and grime on the uphlostered chairs I have for a dining table (which we never use, that's because our island is big enough for our family of 6 to eat of meals at.) and I wanted a change, so I head to the locate fabric store and found a striking b & w zebra print at a really good price. Last night armed with a screwdriver and a staple gun, I started tackling this redo and I am so happy with how they are turning out. I can't wait to get them all finished!!!

My craft room is never clean enough to get pictures to show you where all the magic happens. While it was pretty clean the other day so I snapped a few picture...well actually I just moved some of the clutter around so it doesn't show in the pictures.

First, here's the latest piece I bought when I spent the day with my girlfriends at Ikea a few weeks back I love it. It works perfectly for all my fabrics. I love seeing all the colors on the fabrics; it hopes get my creative juices flowing.

I found these adorable words: CRAFT, SEW, and CREATE. They weren't all the right colors of my room, but that's the beauty of spray paint. They add so much to the room.

Next is my cutting table. I've had this for about 1 1/2 years. A friend of mine, Nat, was remodeling her kitchen and was going to throw out her old cabinets. At the same time, I found a blog that had a posting about a crafting table they made from some old kitchen cabinets...a lightbulb went off in my head. I had Mike screw the cabinets together and I painted them to my liking....black. :)

It works great and it's at a perfect height for me to use it as a cutting table and to do my other crafts.

Note the pictures hanging on the wall... my twins made those at school!!! They were the right colors for this room, so I just had to put them in here.

Finally, here's my sewing table. I love having everything I need at my fingertips.

I hope you like my craft room as much as I do. I am so blessed to have this room all to myself; a place where I can close the room and not have to see the mess that I usually leave behind. :)

Vacation

A few weeks back, I participated in Tip Junkie's Birthday Bash and I was surprised with one of my own customers, Kate won the bag. Here's the bag she designed which also matches her camera strap she won from Priddy Creations (she's one lucky girl!!!). I think I need to make another one for myself. :) I hope Kate LOVES it as much as I do.

The front of the bag has two pockets for business cards, memory cards, etc.

Inside there's places for two lens or a len and flash, plus the camera.

The large pocket on the back of the bag - great for camera manual, batter charger, remotes, etc.

A few weeks ago, I spent a wonderful evening in Muskegon with a great group of ladies. They were so friendly and welcoming. We had a great time designing their bags.

Here are some of their creations

Tina has the most adorable 3 y/o twin girls, Carla and Cara. They were so much fun to work with. Their Grandma bought them these adorable purse for the girls for Christmas.

Of all the bags made for this party, I would say the above 4 bags in this awesome black and green floral corduroy is my favorite. I wish I still had some of the fabric left to make myself one, but unfortunately the fabric is gone and it's from last winter so I know I won't be able to find it again. You, ladies truly have one of a kind creations. :)

The girls are also getting pillows for Christmas. Carly loves purple and Cara loves green, so we made the pillows to show off their favorite colors. I hope they will love them come Christmas.

It's the time of the year when it's time for me to look over my website, change some of the fabrics to reflect the winter trends, and add new designs. (I finally got Kenzie Ray on the website)

May's Purse Party

I had the privilege to go to Hopkins for a party in May. Tabitha and Amy were such great hostesses. The best part of the party was these ladies decided to give the hostess rewards to Lakeshore Pregnancy Center. They were able to get 3 bags and a taggie blanket to donate for the new mommys that get help from LPC, plus I added a couple extra bags.

"Spring has Sprung" Giveaway

This past week the weather has finally gotten warm enough in Michigan that I could send the boys outside to play without coats, hats and boots. There are signs of spring everywhere; the grass is turning green, the flowers are beginning to bloom, and the birds are singing.

I love Spring!!!!

I had a day this past week where I wanted to sew, but I didn't want to sew bags. I wanted to do something different, so I looked through my pattern box and found this adorable dress.

Seeing how I have no girls, I want to give this one away.

I don't know if you have been following the news about the new law that was suppose to take place on Feb 10, 2009 in which it was going to be mandatory that all products that were being marketed for children 0-12 had to be lead tested and certified.

While after the past few months of worrying whether or not I will be able to continue carrying the products(pillows, taggies, burp cloths) I have that are geared towards kids, this past Friday I learned that the CPSA has granted a one year stay on product testing for lead. Which is great news!!! I will be able to have these products available to you for at least one more year.

I am so thankful to God for answering many prayers that were said on this issue.

Extended Delivery Time

Starting today, Nov 10, 2008 through Dec 1, 2008 there will be a 2 week extended delivery time on all products. I will be out of the country from Nov 17 through Nov 26 in Guatemala. I am so excited to be able to serve my God and others by going and help others who do not have as much as I do. I understand that we will be building houses, hosting VBS, visiting an ophanage, and hosting a block party. I am sure that my eyes will be opened as I have never been out of the United States before. (I'm kind of scared to go through customs.) Please pray for myself and the group that I am going with, that God will work through us to better his kingdom.

I will try to finish up the orders that have come in before November 9, but I do apolgy if you don't get your order.

Some out you may be wondering where I come up with the names for my bags.

Started by naming them after my gramas; Thallie & Evie-Lyn

Then I went to some of my nieces; Mae Mae, Ally Kate, & Katie Sue

Then my mom; Mary Jane

After that I named some different name I really liked if I had a girl; Addison & Sophie Rae.

Now I need a name for my camera bag and I haven't gone a clue what to name it.

Any Ideas????

Introducing the lastest additional to Cara's Creations: A Camera Bag.

I was asked by a local photographer if I could come up with a bag that would hold her camera. Of course the creative juices started flowing and here the end result. Thanks, Tina!!!!

Price will be $65.00

The bag includes one flap of your choice and the removable divider

Your choice of black or brown bag

Maybe you are like me, and like to change things enough....well here's your chance. The flaps are interchangable and can be ordered separately. There is a zippered pocket on the back of the bag to hold your manual, extra lid caps and memory cards.
So I can have a green geometric flap one day and the next I can have pink & purple flowers. Of course you can pick from any of the fabrics that we have available.
The bag also have a removable divider that you can put where you want in the bag or leave out if you prefer. It fits my Canon Rebel XT, an extra lens and external flash wonderfully.

Extra Flaps are available for $15.00 each

I decided to start a new blog so that I can get feedback from others on new designs I am trying out. When I have slower times I like to design new designs but just because I like it doesn't mean that you will. So if it's sometime you really like let me know.

Also this will be the place to look for unlimited edtion fabrics....I am always finding new and different fabrics, but I don't want to buy a tons of yardage of each fabric. I can't afford it. So from time to time I will post a photo of some new fabrics that will only be available until I run out. This will be the place to look to have a bag that's different than everyone else.

I will also post photos of different bags that I have finished. I hope this will help you decided what fabrics to use for a new bag that you want to purchase.
